Modern Houses: Alemanys 5
This house is a great example of modern architecture preserved in the old charming exterior. The mix of old and new, stone walls, concrete, wood. This place is amazing! This beautiful house in Girona, Spain is a restoration project by Anna Noguera. I really like the mix of new and old, I think buildings like this have a special charm.
Description from the architects: Located in the central part of Girona’s medieval quarter, within the perimeter of the first wall and overlooking the Plaça Sant Doménec, is the property Alemanys 5, whose original building dates back to the XVI century.
Its recent restoration integrates old and new, where sober and clean lines look for the enjoyment of essential elements such as space, light, shadows, fire, stone, water or silence.
The building is configured out of two family apartments of different sizes and features: “El Badiu”( The Gallery) is a duplex of 180 m2 located on the top floors, with a master bedroom and two rooms for children, a large living space with a fireplace and a jaw dropping terrace facing the south, with an exclusive view over the old medieval city.
“El jardi”( the garden) is an apartment of 100 m2, with two double suits, a spacious bathroom, a large living room which integrates the kitchen, and a pleasant private garden with sun terrace and a pool.
